If you own property in the Algarve, it is more than likely that your water is supplied by and paid to your local council. At the moment many municipalities do not provide online customer accounts , however, you can submit meter readings through your local Town Hall (Câmara Municipal) website and your bills will be updated accordingly.
Homeowners in Albufeira can enter their meter readings online by following these three simple steps:
Step 1: Access the Online Portal
To submit your meter reading online:
· Find a previous water bill
· Click on, ‘Comunicação de Leituras’.
Step 2: Fill in your Details
Complete the form using the following information
· Full Name, 'Nome Completo'
· Fiscal Number (NIF), 'Nr. Contribuinte'*
· Reference, 'Referência'*
· Street Code (5 digits), 'Cod. Arruamento'*
· Area Code (3 digits) 'Área'*
· Meter Reading, 'Leitura'
* You can find this information on your current or any previous water bill.
You can also find the best time to submit your meter readings at the top of your water bill. Look out for, 'Comunicar leitura entre os dias ... e ... de cada mês', in the example below you will see it is between the 6th and 9th.
Step 3: Submit
Click on the button that says 'Enviar' to submit your meter reading. You will receive an instant confirmation notice stating, 'Leitura enviada com sucesso fica aguardando validação da mesmo pelos serviços'.
Estimated or Actual Readings?
You can tell whether your meter readings are actual or estimated by looking at your bill:
Actual meter readings are indicated under, ‘Leitura CMA’
Estimated readings are indicated under,‘Estimativa(B)’.
